Nurus is a Turkish manufacturer of office and contract furniture, providing workplace furniture systems, seating, tables and storage for corporate and other professional interiors. It is one of the longer-established furniture companies in Turkey and operates internationally, with a base in Ankara and a presence in several other countries. The company traces its origins to 1927, when Nurettin Kunurkaya founded a carpentry workshop in Ankara. The business initially produced furniture more broadly, and over the decades it passed through successive generations of the founding family. From the 1980s it moved to specialise in office furniture in response to growing demand from the private and public sectors, and in the 1990s the third generation of the family developed Nurus into an internationally oriented brand. Nurus designs and manufactures furniture for the workplace, with a catalogue spanning desking and workstation systems, task and soft seating, meeting and collaborative furniture, and storage. The company emphasises design as part of its identity and has received a number of international design awards, including recognition from programmes such as the Red Dot and iF design awards. The company has expanded beyond Turkey, establishing operations in other markets — including offices reported in Dubai and Munich — and distributing through dealers in many countries. This combination of domestic manufacturing and international distribution supports its work on contract projects abroad as well as in Turkey.
