Natuzzi is an Italian furniture manufacturer based in Santeramo in Colle, in the Apulia (Puglia) region of southern Italy, known primarily for leather sofas and upholstered living-room furniture. It is one of the larger Italian furniture companies and is publicly traded, producing sofas, armchairs and home furnishings sold internationally under brands including Natuzzi Italia and Natuzzi Editions. The company was founded in 1959 by Pasquale Natuzzi, who as a young man opened a workshop in Taranto, in southern Italy, producing hand-made leather armchairs and sofas. Production was moved to Santeramo in Colle around 1960, where the company's headquarters remain. From these origins Natuzzi grew into a large-scale manufacturer specialising in leather upholstery. Natuzzi expanded significantly from the 1980s, including a focus on exporting upholstered leather furniture to international markets such as the United States. In 1993 it became a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, under the ticker NTZ, which the company describes as a milestone that supported its international growth and manufacturing investments. Pasquale Natuzzi remained a central figure in the company's leadership. The company's product range centres on upholstered seating — particularly leather sofas and armchairs — along with living-room and home furnishings, offered through different brand lines positioned at different points in the market. Manufacturing combines large-scale production with the company's expertise in leather processing. Natuzzi's furniture is aimed primarily at the residential market and is sold internationally through its own branded stores and galleries, partner retailers and online.
