Minotti is an Italian furniture manufacturer based in Meda, in the Brianza furniture district of Lombardy, known for upholstered seating and coordinated furniture collections for residential and contract interiors. Its catalogue centres on sofas, armchairs and seating systems, extended with tables, beds, storage, lighting and outdoor furniture, and it operates as a family-owned company. The company was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti, who began as a small artisan workshop in Meda producing upholstered furniture. From the 1960s the business became progressively more industrial in scale while retaining its base in the Brianza area, a region with a dense concentration of furniture manufacturing north of Milan. The company remained focused on upholstered seating as the core of its identity. After the death of Alberto Minotti, his sons Renato and Roberto Minotti took over the leadership of the company in 1991 and oversaw its expansion into international markets. The business has stayed within the founding family across these generations, and it manufactures its products in Italy. A defining element of the modern company is its art direction. Since the late 1990s Minotti worked closely with the architect Rodolfo Dordoni, who served as art director and coordinator of its collections — shaping a consistent aesthetic across the range — until his death in 2023. Alongside Dordoni the company has collaborated with other designers, presenting coordinated annual collections of seating and complementary furniture rather than one-off pieces. Minotti's furniture is positioned in the higher end of the market and is used in residential interiors as well as hospitality and contract projects. It is sold internationally through a network of dedicated Minotti showrooms, flagship stores and authorised dealers rather than general retail. As a family-owned Italian manufacturer rooted in the Brianza upholstery tradition, Minotti combines in-house Italian production with a designer-led, collection-based approach.
