Flokk is a Scandinavian office furniture group headquartered in Oslo, Norway. It develops, manufactures and markets office chairs, ergonomic seating and broader workplace furniture under a portfolio of separately branded ranges. The group describes itself as a house of brands, combining several long-established European and North American seating names under common ownership and manufacturing. Its positioning centres on workplace seating for focus, collaboration and connection, spanning office, contract and home-office settings. The name Flokk is comparatively recent. The legal group was formed in 2007 as Scandinavian Business Seating, bringing together the Norwegian and Swedish brands HÅG, RH and RBM. As the group expanded beyond Scandinavia — adding the Swiss manufacturer Giroflex and the Polish manufacturer Profim, among others — it adopted the single corporate name Flokk in 2017 to reflect its wider, international scope. The individual brands, however, are far older than either date: Giroflex traces to 1872, HÅG to 1943, and both RH and RBM to the 1970s, giving the group a combined brand heritage of more than 400 years. Flokk's best-known product is the HÅG Capisco, an ergonomic task chair designed by Norwegian industrial designer Peter Opsvik in 1984. Its distinctive saddle-style seat and cut-away cruciform backrest were inspired by the posture of a horseback rider, and the design encourages active sitting — frequent changes of position rather than a single fixed posture. Opsvik's design philosophy is often summarised by his line that the best posture is always the next one. The Capisco remains in production and is offered in several variants, including the lighter HÅG Capisco Puls. Alongside it, the RH Logic range represents the group's high-back ergonomic office chairs, and brands such as Offecct contribute soft seating and acoustic furniture for social and collaborative spaces. Environmental design is a consistent theme in the group's public material. Flokk emphasises recycled and recyclable materials, repairability, long product life and reduced carbon footprint across its ranges, building on a focus on sustainability that predates the Flokk name.
