&Tradition is a Danish design brand that produces furniture, lighting and accessories, based in Copenhagen. It combines reissues of twentieth-century Danish and Scandinavian design classics with contemporary pieces developed with international designers. The brand is positioned in the design-led part of the market and works across residential, hospitality and contract interiors. The company was founded in 2010 by Martin Kornbek Hansen in Copenhagen, with the stated idea of bridging design heritage and contemporary design — reflected in the "&" of its name. From the outset it set out to bring historic Danish designs back into production alongside new work, building a catalogue that spans both eras. A significant part of &Tradition's identity rests on reissued classics produced in collaboration with the original designers' estates. Among the best known is the Flowerpot lamp, designed by Verner Panton in 1968, a rounded pendant and lamp that became a symbol of 1960s design and which &Tradition has produced since 2010. The brand has worked closely with the Panton family and has also reissued other historic pieces, including designs by Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen. Alongside these reissues, &Tradition develops contemporary furniture, lighting and accessories with current designers, presenting coordinated collections that mix old and new. Its range covers seating, tables, lighting, textiles and smaller home objects. &Tradition's products are used in homes, hospitality and other interiors and are sold internationally through design retailers, showrooms and online. As a Copenhagen-based design brand built around both Danish design heritage and contemporary work, &Tradition spans reissued classics and new design.
